Crocodile Tears
The media is going ABSOLUTELY bezerk over the unfortunate death of Steve “Crocodile Man” Irwin.
The man went swimming and was stabbed through the heart by a stingray off the coast of Queensland. I can’t help but think the media would be loving it. Their reaction has been overwhelming!
This afternoon in the office, I heard a yelp: “Steve Irwin is DEAD”. Then one of my colleagues turned around nonchalantly: “That’s nothing, once I got stung by a wasp on the nipple”. Phone calls off the hook “Steve Irwin Just Died”. People talking about it. Emails with the subject line: “I can’t believe it, Steve Irwin is dead”. Taxi on the way back from a meeting this afternoon was the killer (pardon the pun) – “Heard about Steve Irwin? I reckon it’s as bad as Princess Di”.
Foxtel Sky News even had an Irwin Channel tonight. Amazing; it showed John Howard nearly crying.
Was the guy that popular in Australia or are we grieving that people from overseas will no longer be reminded of our wonderful country as much with his departure?
